Orthodox Prayers

Make the sign of the Cross and say:

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, Who art everywhere and fillest all things, Treasury of Blessings and Giver of Life, come and abide in us, and cleanse us from every impurity, and save our souls, O Good One.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us. (thrice)

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. O Lord, wash away our sins, O Master, pardon our transgressions. O Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy Name's sake.

Lord have mercy (thrice).

Glory to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debs as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

A Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Having arisen from sleep, I thank Thee, O All-holy Trinity, for in Thy great goodness and patience Thou wast not angry with me, Thy sinful and slothful servant; nor hast Thou destroyed me in my iniquities, but hast shown customary Thy love toward me, and when I was lying in despair, Thou hast raised me up to glorify Thine unconquerable dominion. And now, most holy God and Master, enlighten my mind to understand Thy words, teach me Thy commandments, help me to do Thy will, praising always in my heart Thine All-holy Name: of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Morning Prayer

Having arisen from sleep I hasten to Thee, O Lord lover of mankind, and by Thy loving-kindness I strive to accomplish Thy work. Help me, I pray to Thee, at all times and in all things. Deliver me from every evil thing of this world and from attacks of the devil. Save me and lead me into Thine eternal Kingdom. For Thou art my Creator, the Giver and Provider of everything good. All my hope is in Thee and I glorify Thee, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer to the Guardian Angel

O Holy Angel of God, guardian and protector of my soul and body, forgive me every transgration which I have committed this day. Deliver me from all evil influences and temptations, so that I may not anger my God by any sin. Pray for me that the Lord may make me worthy of His grace and to become partaker of His eternal Kingdom with the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of all the Saints. Amen.

The Troparion to the Cross

O Lord, save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance. Grant victory to the Orthodox Christians over their adversaries; and by virtue of Thy Cross preserve Thy habitation.

Evening Prayer

O Lord our God, in Thy goodness and love for mankind forgive me all the sins which I have committed today in word, deed or thought. Grant me peaceful and undisturbed sleep. Send me Thy guardian Angel to protect and preserve me from all evil. For Thou art the Guardian of our souls and bodies, and unto Thee we ascribe glory, to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Hymn to the Theotokos

It is truly meet to bless Thee, O Theotokos, the ever blessed and most immaculate, and the Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim. Thee who without defilement gave birth to God the Word, the true Mother of God, we magnify Thee.

The Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light: true God of true God; begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made; Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man; And was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried; And arose again on the third day according to the Scriptures; And ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father; And shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life; Who proceeds from the Father; Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; Who spake by the prophets. In One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, And the life of the age to come. Amen.

Prayer During Lent

O Lord and Master of my life, drive away from me the spirit of idleness, despondency, ambition and idle talk. (Prostration).

But give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love to Thy servant. (Prostration).

Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see mine own transgrations and not to judge my brother, for Thou art blessed unto ages of ages. Amen. (Prostration).
